Fir Island

Nov 24 to 26, 2018 with Jackie and Elston Hill
A gorgeous weekend and we spent two nights at a motel near Fir Island in the Skagit Valley.
A field of swans
Snowgeese with Mount Baker in the background.
In the late afternoon we went to the reserve to wait for sunset and the massive migration of the swans and snow geese out to the bay.
And come they did after sunset.
The mass of snow geese just after sunrise was amazing. You could hear them miles and miles away before they even became visible.
Other birds we met wandering around Fir Island.
An eagle scattered now geese in the late afternoon.
Three birds from Whidbey Island
Mount Rainier visible with snow geese in flight.
Rainier the next morning.
Eagle out before sunrise prowling for prey.
What a weekend!
