This is what I learned from John and Barbara Gerlach about taking pictures of flowers:

 Do not shoot flowers that are in direct sunlight.

 Use a tripod and remote control cable.

 Do not take pictures in wind. (Will buy a flower camp when I get home to hold flowers steady.)

  Manual focus.

  Low ISO (less noise).

  Manual exposure and shutter speed using histogram.

   Use a macro lens. (John suggested I upgrade from 100mm to 200mm macro for a more blurred background.
